seminar is organised by The Centre for New Media Culture
RIXC in collaboration with Goethe Institute in Riga and MMIC - Art Management
and Information Centre in Latvian Academy of Arts.
This seminar is opening
event of the 5th International Festival for new media culture "Art+Communication".
This year festival is a part of the "Riga - European Cultural Month"
program, and the seminar is included in the program "80-Anniversary
of the Latvian Academy of Arts".
* The general aims of the
seminar are:
To improve communication between
different art education institutions internationally and locally.
To promote awareness about interdisciplinary programmes. To explore innovative
ways in developing educational programmes by exploiting interactive potential
of new media.
To promote developing of alternative education models based in exchange,
networking and interdisciplinarity.
To develop international exchange programmes for the media art studies.
* The main goal:
How to proceed with academic
art education and within this context, how to develop new media department
in Latvian Academy Arts.
To present and discuss
practical examples of alternative edu models in this field.
* Target audience:
professors and students from the Arts and Cultural universities
and colleges primarily from Latvia and countries of the Baltic and Nordic
region.

Please note!
This is preliminary program and some parts might be
updated before the seminar!
For random guests,
who woud not participate in the practical problem solving panels,
we suggest to attend lecture by Peter Weibel and Siegfried Cilinski and
the evening
part, starting from 7.00 p.m. with presentation of Tilman Baumgaertel
book "net.art" Latvian edition. Net art and new media art presentations
will follow afterwards.
